What you should ask any AgTech provider before you sign up
If you’ve ever wondered what happens to your field data once it leaves your hands, you’re asking exactly the right question. It’s one we hear often at Tellia, and we’d rather answer it plainly than let it sit as an uneasy assumption.
Farmers know what their data is worth. That’s the point.
Your agronomic data is not generic. It captures years of decisions, soil behavior, crop performance, and hard-won field knowledge. It reflects your farm’s identity. That’s precisely why it has commercial value, and precisely why you should know where it goes.
The uncomfortable reality of the AgTech market is this: many platforms are priced to be cheap or free because the business model is not the subscription. It’s the data. Yield maps, application records, soil analysis, field boundaries. These feed into datasets that get aggregated, sold to input manufacturers, traded to commodity traders, or used to train models that ultimately serve interests other than yours.
If you are not paying for the product, you probably are the product.
We think farmers deserve better than that trade-off. And we think they deserve to know it’s even a trade-off in the first place. What Tellia does with your data Your data is yours. Exclusively. We will never sell it, share it, or monetize it in any way that benefits a third party.
The only circumstance in which your data plays any role beyond serving you directly is when we use strictly anonymized inputs to improve our Voice AI technology. This is technical, never commercial, and never traceable back to your farm or your operation. You can export your data at any time, and you can request its full deletion. No hoops, no lock-in.
Who can see your data
Within Tellia, data access is not a default. By default, nobody on our team can read your field notes or records. The only exception is a dedicated Tellia agronomic analyst, and only if you explicitly grant that access. You remain in full control of who sees what, at all times.
How your data is protected
All data is encrypted, both in transit and at rest. We apply enterprise-grade security standards across our infrastructure, and we continuously audit our stack to ensure those standards hold. Privacy and security are not separate concerns for us. They are the same discipline.
Where your data is stored
We operate separate infrastructure for different geographies. Data from US clients is stored in the United States. Data from European clients is stored in Europe. This is an architectural choice we made deliberately to ensure compliance and to keep your data in the jurisdiction where you operate.
On the AI side, Tellia uses enterprise-grade infrastructure governed by formal data processing agreements. Our providers process your data to deliver the service. They do not retain it for their own purposes, and none of it is used to train commercial AI models. We do not work with providers whose data handling falls short of this standard.
Built from Europe. Designed to the highest privacy standard.
Tellia was founded in San Francisco, California, by European founders and our tech team is based in France. We built Tellia under GDPR from day one, the world’s most rigorous data privacy framework. For our European clients, this means full legal compliance as a baseline. For our US clients, it means something equally valuable: a company that didn’t bolt privacy onto its product as an afterthought. GDPR-native architecture is simply a higher bar, and we chose it deliberately.
Why this matters more than it used to
Voice-first tools like Tellia capture a new category of agronomic intelligence: what you observe in the field, in real time, spoken in your own words. This is richer, more specific, and more sensitive than a yield map. It deserves the highest level of care.
We built Tellia on a simple premise: a service that needs to resell your data to survive cannot fully serve you. We made the choice to build a business that earns its revenue through the value it delivers, not through the value it extracts.
That means we price honestly. We operate transparently. And when you ask us where your data goes, we can tell you exactly.
Questions worth asking any AgTech provider
Where is my data stored, and in which jurisdiction?
Do your AI providers store my inputs, or only process them?
Is my data ever used to train models that benefit other clients or third parties?
Who within your company can access my farm data, and under what conditions?
Can I export and delete my data at any time
What is your primary business model? If a provider can’t answer these clearly, that’s your answer.
At Tellia, data privacy isn’t a compliance checkbox. It’s the foundation of the trust that makes precision agriculture actually work. Want to understand exactly how Tellia handles your data? Ask us directly or book a demo and we’ll walk you through it.

Screens break in the field. Voice AI captures what really happened, in real time, across languages and teams, and turns it into structured operational data. Here's why it's the only interface built for agriculture.
